Ajit Kumar Doval is the current National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of India. 

Doval is a retired member of the Indian Police Service (IPS) and has previously served as the Director of the Intelligence Bureau. It is India’s internal intelligence agency.

He was part of the Indian team sent to Kandahar for negotiations during the hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight in 1999.

Fondly called India’s real-life James Bond, Ajit Doval is credited with many successful missions and negotiations.

  • 2014: 46 Indian nurses safely return after being trapped in Iraq
  • 2017: Doklam Standoff at India-China border resolved 
  • 2019: Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman captured and released by Pakistan

In 2020 he was part of the negotiations with Myanmar for the handover of 22 Indians to the Indian Government.
