Tiny Tales

Microfiction is a form of fiction that is becoming increasing popular among readers. Being short on time and having a short attention span is common these days. Microfiction story writers keep this in mind and write stories as short as 100 words (going up to 1000 words).

Here are three original Microfiction works by Neel Bhradwaj, Age 12 years, Rouse Hill High School, Sydney.

1. Playmate

I do not want the doll.

They insist; it has been in the family for so long waiting for a child to play with.

They find it hidden in my closet and tuck it back into bed with me. Sweet dreams!

In the morning, the doll is all that remains.

2. Dinner is Served

It was the fanciest dinner party I had ever been invited too.

There were so many forks, knives and spoons by my plate. I was trying to figure out which ones to use.

I took a peek at the dish at the centre of the table

Half-eaten brains and rotten flesh.

3. At Work

The robot stood at the store counter.

Patiently waiting for someone to enter and make a purchase.

That the last living human had died three hundred years ago didn’t factor into its task.
